Charles O. McCormick, III, MD

Charles O. McCormick III, M.D., received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana University in 1971 before completing his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1975. A rotating internship at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis preceded his ophthalmology post-graduate training at Indiana University School of Medicine in 1979. He became a Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1981. Dr. McCormick is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Medical Association, Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Indiana State Medical Association. He is a past advisor and former president of the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, former advisor for the Vision Council of America, and is current a Beta Theta Pi men's fraternity board member.

Dr. McCormick was recognized by the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology as the Ophthalmologist of the Year 2001. He has supported several charities and developed the McCormick Science Grant for basic science research at Indiana University. Dr. McCormick is a third generation doctor and was attracted to ophthalmology through his activities in photojournalism. Although he did not pursue OB/GYN as his father had wished, several hundred of his father's former patients have sought him for eye care. Dr. McCormick is co-founder of the Indiana Eye Clinic.
